Emphysema and Air Leak Treatment

SVS valve treatment is a promising approach for treating a diseased lung in emphysematous patients or a damaged lung resulting in air leaks. The patented one-way SVS valve is a device placed in selected lung airways where it self-expands and limits the airflow to the occluded areas of the lung while still allowing mucus and trapped air to pass by outside of the valve in the proximal direction.

Engineered for Airway Management

Inspired by aerodynamics, the Spiration Valve redirects air away from diseased or damaged lung to healthier tissue, all while allowing trapped air and secretions to escape, so that patients may breathe easier.
Unlike a stent, the unique design of the Spiration Valve minimizes contact with the bronchial wall, maintains position to redirect air even in complex patients, and facilitates easy removal when needed.
The valve consists of a Nitinol frame covered with a polymer membrane and five anchors that securely engage the airway walls at the targeted treatment location.
The procedure is considered minimally invasive and can be performed through a flexible bronchoscope.

Valve Treatment Benefits May Include:

  • Reduction in hyperinflation
  • Improvements in pulmonary function
  • Improved exercise tolerance
  • Improved quality of life

SeleCT the Right Patient

Non-Invasive Patient Selection in Emphysema

SeleCT by VIDA is a quantitative CT analysis service that provides you with precise quantitative measures of lung parenchyma in patients with severe emphysema who may be suitable for bronchial valve treatment.

Each Quantitative Report Contains Lung Parenchymal Measurements Such As:

  • Lobar volume
  • Emphysema severity
  • Heterogeneity
  • Fissure integrity

For non-invasive patient selection in emphysema therapy to further improve your treatment results.

Large Range of Valve Sizes

Different valve sizes make the ideal fit for the occlusion of smaller and larger airways.

SVS Valves Are Now Available in Four Sizes:

  • 5 mm
  • 6 mm
  • 7 mm
  • 9 mm

Sizing the selected airways with a calibrated balloon catheter determines the appropriate valve size. Two catheter sizes allow access to all airways. Depending on your needs, catheters for 2.0 mm and 2.6 mm working channels make valve placement simple and easy.

Information for Patients with Emphysema

Our patient information brochure contains all relevant information about COPD disease and the valve treatment. By providing you with this brochure, we hope to support your daily work in explaining the treatment method as well as frequently asked questions about valve therapy. Involve your patient from the first step of treatment.
